Biluim Israel
Biluim Israel is the final phase of Canadian Young Judaea's Leadership Training Programs. The program is a unique summer experience, combining leadership development, seminars, nature hiking and touring. The "Biluimniks" explore varied Israeli lifestyles and at the same time discover their Jewish identity.
The chanichim (campers) will travel around the country and spend time with groups of teens visiting Israel from other countries, meet Bedouins, Druze and Ba'hai communities, and enjoy all that Israel has to offer: snorkeling, rappelling, beaches, water parks, camel and donkey rides, Israeli culture and falafel.
During the tour Biluimniks will criss-cross Israel from Metula to Eilat and from the Mediterranean to the Dead Sea . Qualified madrichim (counselors) on a ratio of one madrich for every 15 participants lead each group. They are chosen from a pool of senior staff members who attend our affiliated camps. Tiyulim (hikes) are led by a staff member who is a tour guide licensed by the State of Israel. Each group has an Israeli staff person and a medic as necessary.
Chanichim receive both written and verbal evaluations, which are sent to the CYJ and affiliated Camp Directors after the summer.
Biluim Israel program is the perfect opportunity for a young person to experience Israel . The program allows them to emotionally and intellectually explore the State of Israel, the Jewish Home Land.
BILUIM ISRAEL 2010
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Biluim Israel 2010 registration. The following details of the Program are outlined for your information together with the enclosed Camper Application Form. In addition to the Biluim Israel program, we are pleased to again this year offer a four-day trip to Poland.
Campers interested in this exciting supplement are required to submit an essay and will be evaluated by their past directors and staff. Once accepted, campers will participate in a series of mandatory programs including programs, films and bibliographies. Please note that there is a maximum capacity of 50 participants on this year’s Poland portion.
Camp Biluim Israel is a leadership experience as well as a tour. To maintain the integrity of the program, we take admissions very seriously. Any applicant who did not attend either CIT at Camp Kadimah or Camp Biluim Canada will be interviewed. In addition, we will use evaluations and recommendations from our feeder camps as part of the admissions process. Applicants will receive a formal acceptance letter after all of the criteria for acceptance is met. These letters will be sent out no later than December 15th, 2009.
In order to better cater to the preferences of our campers,we are offering the two choices of itineraries on the Israel portion of the Program:
1. Biluim Israel Classic: The ‘Classic’ program follows our traditional itinerary developed and refined over the past twenty years and will spend one week at the IDF’s Gadna program
-
Outdoor Adventure: For those who want a more physical program, the Outdoor Adventure itinerary is for you. There will be a Sea to Sea hike, camping, stunning daily hikes, rappelling, jeep tours, sleeping under the stars and more!. (Please note that this option is an additional $450.00 USD)
There is limited space on the Outdoor Adventure program and the buses will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If a program is full, you will be notified and asked to choose a different itinerary.
Both the ‘Classic’ and ‘Outdoor Adventure’ programs include a family weekend where your child can spend the weekend with family in Israel. Should you want your child to remain with the program, we are pleased to offer a supervised weekend supplement at a cost of USD 300.00.
We will post updated information on our website and will email parents and campers regarding any necessary updates, meeting times or pre-programming as it becomes available.
We understand that the program is a large expense. We are doing everything possible to keep costs down while delivering a high quality experience. If you are interested in scholarship information, we will provide you with the contacts at the local Canadian Federations as applications are submitted.
